This milestone year not only celebrates 40 years in business, it also marks full ownership under Managing Director Murray Alexander and Director Jason Moir.
Having each dedicated more than 30 years to XIC, their leadership reflects deep experience, long-term commitment and the confidence to continue investing in technology and people.

Xpress Print is founded
Bill Fawcett establishes Xpress Print in 1986.

Opened holburn street branch
Xpress Print opens branch on Holburn Street.

Opened skene street branch
Xpress Print opens Skene Street branch.
1987
Roll out of new Apple Mac workstations
Xpress Print becomes the first in Scotland to introduce Apple Mac workstations.

1992
achieved bs 5750 status
Xpress Print becomes the first in Scotland to achieve BS 5750 status

1993
Murray Alexander joins Xpress Print
Murray starts at Xpress Print as a Trainee Lithographic Printer.

1995
Construction begins
Construction begins on our 10,000 sq ft purpose-built factory in Altens.

Our Altens facility opened
Xpress Print’s new 10,000 sq ft facility in Altens is now open for business.

Xpress Print rebrands to XIC
After 20 years of Xpress Print, the company officially rebrands to XIC.

Murray becomes director of XIC
Following 13 years with the company, Murray Alexander becomes Managing Director.

2009
Delivery of large-scale colour digital printing press
XIC is the first Scottish print company to take delivery of large-scale colour printing press from Canon UK.

2011
XIC acquires Halcon
XIC acquires Stonehaven-based Halcon Print & Design.
2018
Murray and Jason acquire 75% of XIC via management buyout
After 32 years, Bill Fawcett passes on the managerial reins to Murray and Jason, while retaining a 25% shareholding in the business.

2021
XIC launches inspection tag offering
Marking a new division of the business, XIC now offers bespoke, durable, cost-effective inspection tags for all industries. 
2023
New direct-to-object printer
The new investment means XIC can now rapidly transform off-the-shelf items into unique promotional merchandise.

2025
new Roland wide format printer
XIC invests in its first Roland wide format printer in March 2025.

2025
XIC adds a second Roland wide format printer
This latest printer added in August 2025 boosts XIC’s capacity and creativity with the ability to print white and add a gloss finish.

2026
XIC IS 40!
XIC reaches 40th anniversary as Murray and Jason acquire 100% ownership of the business from founder, Bill Fawcett.
