April was a busy month, not only did we announce The Safety Expo but we’ve also been working with incredible organisations and sustainability has certainly been a focal point for our recent projects.
Check out what’s been happening at XIC HQ over the last few weeks…
Introducing The Safety Expo!
Taking place on Thursday, September 21st at P&J Live, we’re thrilled to be bringing the North-east’s only dedicated QHSE event to the region. Aiming to highlight local businesses’ immense talent for health and safety products and services, the event is free to attend and open to everyone.
With a number of high profile businesses already signed up, the expo is an ideal opportunity for attendees to network with exhibitors and discover innovative solutions that align with their operations.
Additionally, we couldn’t be more excited to announce that we have a number of industry heavyweights lined up to deliver impactful presentations across QHSE disciplines. Make sure to register your attendance to hear from Bob Keiller, Brett Townsley, Alan Smith, Jim Grimmer, Steve Rae and Steven J Innes.

Check out this recent high-end project work for AJC Homes!
Local housebuilder AJC Homes was looking for a specialist brochure and folder for its sales professionals to use that matched the premium quality of its brand, while having the practicality to hold a range of informative handouts for its customers.
With artwork/spec being supplied by the client, it was up to us to shape this into high-end marketing material through the use of various production techniques including silver foil blocking to elevate the AJC brand, blind embossing to make the development location stand out and die cutting to create a useful pocket at the rear for all those added extras. By using a creative paper range from specialist provider G.F Smith, the pack incorporates the ultimate sense of luxury through varying textures and weight.
This quality printwork was a small run, emphasising exclusivity, and symbolising the quality of AJC Homes to its customers. As a quality piece, it’s likely to stick in AJC’s customers’ minds, and stand the test of time.
Kirkwood Times: A traditional concept using modern techniques
Kirkwood Homes designs and builds luxury properties across Scotland and
wanted something special to commemorate the opening of its first ever showhome village in Blackdog, Aberdeenshire.
The first in-person event in a number of years, it wanted something unique that would grasp the attention of the influential attendees. Throughout the process, we looked for a way to perfectly blend both the feel of a newspaper while implementing the luxurious quality of the Kirkwood brand. The finished product was made with 100% recyclable paper, and was both rustic, sophisticated and oozed quality much like its brand while being complete with key messages and eye-catching imagery.

Helping Plant Integrity Management (PIM) stand out
Our client PIM was looking for a bespoke and creative handout to apply its branded artwork to for the OGV Recruitment Fare, ensuring it stood out from other stallholders.
Taking inspiration from our popular ‘Box of Tricks’ sample pack, which boasts a range of unique marketing materials, we put forward different ideas that we felt aligned with PIM’s brand. Opting for branded note-pads, information leaflets and bespoke packaging to add a professional feel, the client distributed the handout to those interested in a career at PIM during the event.
The final product was loved by the client who stated that the handouts were “very popular” and “stood out against normal event giveaways”.

Investing in the environment
At XIC, we’re committed to playing our part in shaping a greener planet and reducing our carbon footprint wherever we can, which is why we’ve now added a second electric vehicle to our fleet!
Transport is an essential element to our operations as in addition to travelling to client meetings, we also need to deliver orders to clients safely and efficiently. Our new EV addition means that whenever our team travels, we’re not producing harmful emissions that are detrimental to the environment.
We are continuing to assess our everyday operations with sustainability in mind, making an effort where possible to switch to cleaner sources of energy.
Levelling up Caledonian Optical’s exhibition stand
Continuing with the theme of sustainability, we recently completed an up-cycling project for Duncan and Todd’s lens manufacturing laboratory, Caledonian Optical. The finished product not only enhances its presence at events, but also provides functionality for its office space, meaning the product is constantly in use whether an exhibition is on the horizon or not!
For this project, we up-cycled a wooden cabinet by disassembling it first in our factory. Then, we applied a premium-quality vinyl wrap as well as a protective matt finish to create a product that is both professional and eye-catching, while incorporating the brand’s colours and logo.
