Kirkwod Homes

A traditional concept using modern techniques

Project Spotlight

Brief

Kirkwood Homes designs and builds luxury properties across Scotland, and in February 2023 launched the first edition of the Kirkwood Times.

Inspired by traditional newspapers, Kirkwood wanted to commemorate the opening of its first ever showhome village in Blackdog, Aberdeenshire. With an array of influential individuals from the industry attending Kirkwood’s first in-person event in a number of years, the team wanted to do something special and unique, to truly grab the attention of all attendees.

The final product needed to be A4, easy to read on the move or carry, while showcasing a selection of articles and imagery that illustrated the latest news and updates from Kirkwood Homes in an exciting manner.

Concept

Throughout the process, we frequently referenced the feel of a newspaper while considering the luxurious quality of the Kirkwood brand and looked for a way to blend both.

As an environmentally-conscious creative printer, we wanted to remain as sustainable as possible when creating this project. With this in mind, we opted for Nautilus® SuperWhite 100% recycled offset paper which is made from consumer waste and is ideal for contrast-rich documents that feature text and imagery. This eco-friendly choice is optimal for environmental sustainability, without compromising on print quality.

Complete with key messages and eye-catching imagery, the final design of the Kirkwood Times emphasised the brand’s key messages and articles while giving the reader in-depth details around the new showhome, Kirkwood’s signature housetypes, the brand’s stylish interiors, and so much more.

The finished product was both rustic, sophisticated and oozed quality much like the Kirkwood brand.

Results

We received an abundance of excellent feedback from both the client and attendees of the showhome launch – the final product looked great both in-person and in photographs.

Intended as a one-off newspaper to support the launch of the showhome, Kirkwood Times has now become a regular marketing material for the company with the next edition on the horizon. In the end, we produced something that everyone at XIC was proud to show off and we are already looking forward to supporting with future editions.

Colin Crombie
Managing Director

“We were thoroughly impressed with the final outcome of the Kirkwood Times – it looked and felt extremely professional while surpassing our expectations. On the day of Strabathie Village’s launch, we observed many attendees enjoying the newspaper – some even shared snaps to social media.

“Although this concept veered away from our traditional brochures, the final product had the perfect blend of professionalism and fun while being produced with the environment in mind. We can’t wait to create future editions of the Kirkwood Times, and to continue working with XIC.”
