Boskalis

Artistic designs that transform a blank canvas

Project Spotlight

Brief

Leading specialist in subsea solutions, Boskalis, was looking to revamp its office design and liven up the space for staff and visitors. Determined to incorporate its vessels, project work, company logo and its values into the design, they wanted something with impact, something attention-grabbing.

Design

Prior to its new look, Boskalis’ canteen, dining and recreational room, was a complete blank canvas. Following site visits and obtaining required imagery, we considered how we could integrate a fresh concept that complemented the room’s desirable features.

Full length windows make up most of the walls keeping the space bright and airy. Using the light as inspiration, we brought the outdoors, indoors, and incorporated an incredible shot from landscape photographer, Colin Hunter of North East and Beyond into the design. Using textured adhesive vinyl, we considered the image’s composition to accommodate the wall’s windows and doors and created a striking 12m wallscape.

Utilising the length of each window, we added Boskalis’ crown logo with etched vinyl to the lower panel. The frosted effect continues to let light shine through while subtly adding branding that can be appreciated from both the interior and the exterior.

For its kitchen space, we swapped the off-brand oak units for something that felt a little more, on-brand. Applying a full vinyl wrap in white matt around the kitchen units and doors, the seamless design features the steel effect crown motif to incorporate more of the brand identity and add consistency throughout the room.

To maximise the use of its project work, we also used highly durable vinyl to add logos, brand colours and fleet imagery, creating an engaging visual for people to admire.

Results

The finished result provides a consistent flow of Boskalis’ brand identity while adding scenic visuals for staff and visitors to admire. Check out what Boskalis has to say…

“Artistic, faultless, efficient, reliable.

“The final results are amazing. From the boats, to the values and even the view of Bennachie on our canteen walls, it looks brilliant. We receive so many compliments from clients and visitors on what a lovely building we have, and the murals on our walls definitely adds a lot of character to our office space.

“We’ve used XIC previously for printing and always found its service to be reliable, efficient and cost effective. As always, it was a pleasure to work with the team, which always listens to our ideas and manages to turn them into a reality. While XIC’s work does the talking, I would add that they are a hard working, local company who always go above and beyond to assist whatever you require.”
